Disney Magic

I love magic and – recently – a little of it entered my life for real.

For my 40 th birthday, which was closely followed by our 10 th wedding anniversary, my wife booked us the trip of a lifetime – a family holiday on a Disney cruise from Southampton.

For the next few days we enjoyed some amazing stage shows, all based on Disney characters. We even got to experience an outdoor Frozen show (and it really was freezing in the middle of the ocean!).

The food was great, too – from a choice of several themed restaurants. Our favourite was the ‘Tangled’ restaurant, where we even got to see the floating lanterns (from the Rapunzel fairy tale on which the film Tangled is based). That was truly magical.

Though a highlight for me was meeting Spiderman and Captain Marvel, the memory I treasure most was seeing my children’s faces when they got to meet their favourite Disney Princesses.

One thing I learnt is that you need to take out a bank loan just to pay for the Disney merchandise! (Though, joking aside, the kids were chuffed to bits with their gifts.)

All in all, we had a wonderful time – but the Disney blues really hit us on the way home. To cheer myself up, I visited some of my favourite magic shops – Saturn, Magic and Propdog. And with what I was able to find there, I’m hoping
